Work from Café Mia
Work from Café Mia.
Free 250 Mbps Wi-Fi. Outlets at most tables. No time limits. Open 8 AM to 5 PM. The cafe built for the long session.
Café Mia is one of the best cafes in Bushwick for remote work. Not because we say so — because the work-from-cafe regulars who tried 4 other Bushwick spots first ended up here. This page is the operational case for why.
The numbers
- Wi-Fi: 250 Mbps business-grade fiber, dedicated guest network. Doesn't drop.
- Outlets: 12 standard outlets distributed around the room. A few USB-C built-ins.
- Seating: ~30 seats, mostly singles and 2-tops.
- Time limit: None on weekdays. No formal limit on weekends; we just ask people to move to smaller tables during peaks.
- Bathroom: Available, clean, no ask-the-counter dance.
- Hours: 8 AM – 5 PM daily. Long enough for a full day's session.
The atmosphere
The room reads warm without being loud:
- Soft jazz / instrumental music in the morning. Background, not foreground.
- Natural light through the front windows.
- Cherry-blossom installation overhead — visually quiet.
- Emerald velvet seating: actually comfortable for 3+ hour sessions.
Best times to work
| Time | Vibe |
| Tue–Thu, 9–11 AM | Calmest. Best for deep focus. |
| Tue–Thu, 1–3 PM | Busier. Workable with headphones. |
| Friday afternoon | Mid-vibrancy. Acceptable. |
| Sat morning before 10 | Quiet weekend window. |
| Sat 11 AM – 2 PM | Peak. Avoid if you need focus. |
| Sun 11 AM – 1 PM | Similar to Saturday peak. |
Etiquette we expect
- Order something every 90 minutes. Coffee, water refill, snack. Anything counts.
- Move to smaller tables during peaks. If we're at full capacity, taking a 4-top alone is unkind.
- Headphones for video calls. Always. No speaker calls.
- Tip on counter service. $1–$2 per drink is standard.
- Pack up before close. 5 PM is hard close; start packing at 4:45.
What to order for a long session
- Hour 1: Flat white or matcha latte. Anchor drink.
- Hour 2–3: Water (we refill for free).
- Hour 4: Iced matcha or cold brew. Reset.
- Hour 5–6: Snack — avocado toast, breakfast sandwich, or pastry.
